Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
We’ve gathered the most common head-scratchers and answered them right here, no jargon, no food puns.
How does FoodToo help me reduce waste?
FoodToo connects you with surplus food from local businesses. These are still perfectly good but might otherwise be thrown away. By purchasing through the platform, you're helping reduce unnecessary waste and supporting a more sustainable food system.
Is the food safe to eat?
All items listed must meet food safety standards and are still safe for consumption. Merchants are required to indicate expiry dates or best-before timelines clearly on the app.
Users are also reminded to look, smell and check the items before picking up the order - any cancellation due to spoilage will be processed.
Can I choose exactly what I’m getting?
Some items are pre-packed as “surprise bags” with a general description (e.g. baked goods, lunch boxes). Others list specific items. This will be stated in the product description.
What happens if I miss my pickup?
Your order will be forfeited and non-refundable, as merchants prepare the food specifically for you and it may expire soon.
Do I have to pick up the food myself?
Yes. All orders are pick-up only. Each listing includes the pick-up window, address, and instructions. FoodToo believes in the goal of reducing carbon emissions, and choosing to pick up your food instead of having it delivered is a small but important step towards the goal!
Can I cancel my order?
Orders are cancellable by users before merchants confirm the order. Users may also cancel the order upon pick-up if the food is spoiled. Otherwise, orders are non-cancellable and non-refundable once confirmed, except in cases of merchant error or cancellation.
Do I need to bring anything when collecting my order?
Bring your confirmation email or show your app screen to the merchant. A reusable bag or container is recommended to reduce packaging waste.
How does FoodToo work for merchants?
FoodToo lets you list surplus food, set flexible pickup times, and earn extra income from items that would otherwise go to waste. We handle the customer orders, payments, and platform support while you focus on running your business. It’s simple, efficient, and helps your food do more good.
What types of inventory can I list?
Merchants may list individual surplus items or bundle them into surprise packages. Each listing should include a clear title and a general description of what the customer can expect.
How should I price surplus items?
We recommend pricing items at approximately 50% off the original retail price. This helps maximise sell-through while maintaining perceived value.
Can customers cancel their orders?
Yes. Customers may cancel an order before it is accepted by the merchant, or if the food is found to be spoilt at the point of pickup.. In such cases, no payment will be processed.
What if a customer fails to collect their order?
If the order is not collected within the stated window, it is deemed forfeited. The merchant will retain the full payment.
What is the merchant’s liability in the event of a customer complaint regarding food quality?
Merchants are responsible for ensuring that all items listed are safe for consumption within the specified best-before or expiry date. Customers are encouraged to verify item quality upon collection. FoodToo disclaims liability for any issues arising from improper storage or handling after pickup.
